The Helicopter Club of Great Britain (HCGB) was formed on 3rd July, 1966 with the aim to bring together helicopter pilots, owners and enthusiasts in order to generate a wider interest in the sporting and social use of helicopters within the UK.

A number of sporting, instructional and social events are organised each year including the annual British Helicopter Championship. The Club publishes its magazine "Rotor Torque"  quarterly containing helicopter industry news, articles, contributions from its members and details of upcoming events

The HCGB has representation and affiliation to the following organisations;

•·    The Royal Aero Club

•·    Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI)

•·    British Helicopter Advisory Board (BHAB)

•·    General Aviation Safety Council (GASCo)

•·    General Aviation Consultative Committee (GACC)

•·    National Air Traffic Management Consultative Committee (NATMAC)

•·    Flight Crew Licensing Standards Committee

The Club has seen its membership rise to over 500 members as the number of helicopters and helicopter pilots in the UK has steadily increased over the past few years.

The Club aims to look after the best interests of all helicopter pilots and has a strong influence in ensuring, wherever possible legislation affecting its members is both sensible and practical.
